Benefits of WP Document Revisions
Persistent URL
Each file has a persistent URL which is very helpful for revisions. Unlike the Media Library, uploading a new version of the document will maintain the same URL.
Revisions Log
Documents have a revision history with the ability to revert back to a previous version. Plus, keep the persistent URL. The persistent URL will always point to the latest version of the document.
Visibility
Documents have the same visibility options as pages, Public, Private, and Password protected. The Media Library does not have this capability.
Note: By default, the visibility is set to Private.
Collaboration and WordFlow State
Workflow state identifies the state of the document from In Progress to Final. People can check out a document to review and upload a new version or status of the document.
