What is Google Analytics?

Google Analytics (GA) is a tool that tracks and reports website data. This allows you to understand how people use your sites in many different capacities.

Universal Analytics (UA) and Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

GA4 is the latest version of Google Analytics. Google’s Universal Analytics (UA) is no longer available.

If Google Analytics isn’t set up on your website, we will set up a GA4 property for you.

Link your WSU Email with a Google Account

Google WorkSpace

Is your WSU email address associated with a Google WordSPace account? If so, we won’t be able to use your wsu email address as a Google account. You must use a different Gmail email account to access Google Analytics.

Check for Google Analytics IDs

You can check your site at Settings > Analytics and you should see a series of numbers in the Google Analytics ID or GA4 Analytics ID field. It can be helpful to include this information with your web support ticket to access the Google Analytics account.

Link Your WSU Email Address With a Google Account

Please convert your WSU email address into a Google Account by following the steps below.

  1. Go to the Google Accounts sign-up webpage.
  2. Follow the prompt for your information (first & last name, birth date, and gender), and select “Next” after filling in all the fields.

  3. Select “Use your existing email.”

  4. Enter your WSU email in the Email address field.

  5. Google will send a verification email to your WSU email. Copy and paste the verification code and select “Next.”

  6. Your WSU email will be connected to Google and you can connect to the Google Analytics account for your department’s website.
