May 5, 2023 Open Lab Notes: Overlap & Video Block, Degree Finder, and New Login Screen

What We Are Working on

Degree Finder: We are starting to rebuild degree finder with the ability to embed degree pages into college and department websites.

(Beta) Advance Overlap: A new toggle is added to swap the location of the left and right block when on screens smaller than the tablet (768px) width.
Spotlight Overlap: In the process of adding a drop shadow to the content block in the spotlight.
New Video Block: The new image block will include an image placeholder and allow adding YouTube and Vimeo videos. The old video player will still work but you will not be able to add the old video block.

New Login Screen: We are starting to implement a new login with OKTA.
Moving Websites: We are beginning to move sites over to AWS. Most likely we will start with labs.wsu.edu websites.

HTML Snippet: Who needs search? We’ll be swapping a snippet of code to allow search to see the HTML snippets on a webpage.

Google Analytics Countdown Clock: Google Analytics has added a countdown clock for transitioning to Google Analytics 4. Don’t Panic. We’ve already added GA4 tracking to those sites on our server that had the GA UA tracking. There are more details on our Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Update post.
GAAD Virtual Events: May 18 is Global Accessibility Awareness Day. We’ll be updating our post (web.wsu.edu/gaad) about the virtual events of interest for the work we do on websites.
