Digital Accessibility is Everyone’s Responsibility
The required digital accessibility assessment is for all WSU employees who create or publish digital content, such as email, documents, multimedia, and websites, are responsible for ensuring it is accessible and provides an inclusive experience.
What We Are Working on
Web Design System
- In Customize: WSU Social Accounts: Each Social Media account has a new field for Title/Label. This is for the Title of the Social Media account.
This will provide for a more descriptive link text for the icons in the footer of the website. - Horizontal Menu & Accessibility Update: The menu item name will be included with the “Open Submenu” button label. Example: “Open About Submenu” with About being the menu item name.
- Cougar Head Icon’s Alternative Text: The Cougar Head Icon’s alt text is Washington State University.
- Footer Links and Accessibility Update: The links in the contact information section are underlined in white. Hovering over the links in the footer displays a white underline. The focus state, when tabbing through the footer, is a white box around the link.
- Intermittent 500 and Database Errors: These errors occurred on websites on AWS. This issue is resolved.

- How to Add Skip Button: Instructions on adding a Skip Social Media Feed when a social media feed is present on a website.
Glitch List
- aria-hidden and Decorators: We are adding an aria-hidden=true to ensure the decorator, which is a decoration, is skipped by assistive devices.
Submit a web support ticket to Report a Bug/Issue if you find a glitch.
