Website Branding Guidelines

Websites representing WSU entities

  • Must have full WSU branding
  • Must use wsu.edu domain
  • Examples:
    • WSU department and units

Websites representing WSU activities and programs where WSU is the only participant.

  • Must have full WSU branding
  • Must use wsu.edu domain
  • Examples:
    • Lab websites, websites organized by topics, grants, events & conferences.

Websites representing activities where external entities are contributing resources, but WSU is the designated lead contributor and/or administrator.

  • Must have full WSU branding
  • Must use wsu.edu domain
  • Additional entities logos are placed in the right of the site header and/or in the footer.
  • Personnel lists, contact lists, or similar must list WSU affiliation of the person.

Websites representing activities where external entities are contributing resources and WSU an equal contributor.

  • Full WSU branding is optional.
  • wsu.edu domain is optional.
  • WSU logo must be present and persistent on all pages of the site.
  • WSU logo may be presented as visually equal to other contributing logos.
  • Personnel lists, contact lists, or similar must list WSU affiliation of the person.

Websites representing programs and activities owned by non-WSU entities where WSU is contracted as the sole or designated lead to administer the activities (4-H, SnapEd).

  • Must use full WSU branding unless contractually obligated to use non-WSU entity’s branding.
  • If non-WSU branding is used, WSU logo must be present and persistent on all pages of the site unless contractually limited.
  • wsu.edu domain is optional.
  • Commonly state and federally established programs
  • Personnel lists, contact lists, or similar must list WSU affiliation of the person.

Websites representing activities owned by non-WSU entities where WSU is contracted to administer the activities and there is a reasonable expectation that administration will be transferred to a non-WSU entity.

  • Full WSU branding is optional.
  • wsu.edu domain is optional.
  • WSU logo must be present and be persistent on all pages of the site unless contractually limited
  • Personnel lists, contact lists, or similar must list WSU affiliation of the person.

Notes:

  • Websites that are not branded as WSU cannot be hosted on the University Communications & Marketing WordPress platform.
  • Exceptions for branding and domain usage can be requested if there is a significant business case for using non-wsu branding or a .org domain. Contractual obligation to brand a distinct entity
