This plugin replaces Duplicate and Merge Posts when using the WDS Theme. The Duplicate and Merge Posts plugin is still available for websites in the Spine theme.
Duplicate Post
This plugin is a bit different than the plugin (Duplicate and Merge Posts) that is used with the Spine theme.
Duplicate is on All Pages. It is located below the page title in line with the Edit | Quick Edit… links.
A copy of the web page is created. The copy is located below the original web page. The new web page retains the Parent page in the Page Attribute panel of the original web page and adds -copy to the URL in the Summary panel.
Duplicate and Merge Posts Compared to Duplicate Post
The Duplicate and Merge Posts plugin allows for merging the copied web page or post back to the original web page. The Duplicate Post plugin does not.
Solution: Use Code Editor from Options (three dots in the upper right of the web page) to copy the web page’s code into the original web page.
The Duplicate and Merge Posts plugin allows for View Side-by-side difference. The Duplicate Post plugin does not.
Solution: Preview the two web pages in separate browser windows. Or Use the DiffNow tool.
The Duplicate and Merge Posts plugin allows for Save as New Post. The Duplicate Post plugin does not.
Solution: Edit the URL in the Summary Panel and the Parent Page in the Page Attribute Panel as needed to make this a separate web page from the original. The Duplicate Post plugin automatically adds -copy to the end of the URL and keeps the web page URL and Parent page of the original web page.
