Domains

There are three types of domains available for a WSU website.

Required for WSU Websites

  • All content publishers on WSU websites are required to take the digital accessibility assessment.
  • All content, documents, and media on WSU websites must meet accessibility requirements, WCAG 2.1, Level AA.

Learn about the digital accessibility requirements before requesting access to the website.

Third-level Domains

Third-level domains (i.e., newdomain.wsu.edu) are restricted and must go through additional approval before use. Please refer to University Policies and Procedures Manual 85.50: University Domain Name Policy (formerly Executive Policy #21) for WSU’s domain name policy.

Justification Statements

Include a justification statement addressing these three questions when submitting your request.

  • Why is a fourth-level domain inappropriate or unavailable?
  • Why are none of the provided general-use domains appropriate?
  • Why is the domain requested unlikely to be requested by another unit/group in the WSU system?

Submit a web support ticket to request a new domain name with your justification statement.
