Accessibility Assessment, User Roles, and Login Procedures

Web Communication is moving to include Digital Accessibility procedures within its WordPress platform per the WSU policy (EP07) and procedures (BPPM 85.55). This will include updating the Web Support Tickets, adding accessibility roles to User Profiles, and connecting the OKTA login with the user’s digital accessibility assessment status.

Web Support Tickets

Implementation: September 2024

Web support tickets will include acknowledgment of accessibility requirements for content and taking the Digital Accessibility Assessment on some tickets. This will also include removing the ability to request access for more than one person.

The following forms will include these updates.

  • Editing access to a website or people directory
  • New Website
  • Publish or launch a website
  • New domain name

Accessibility Roles

Implementation: October 2024

Adding the Accessibility Role to profiles meets the BPPM 85.55 requirement for identifying the Subdomain owner. The new roles include website owner, accessibility proxy, content publisher, and non-publisher. More information about these roles and their responsibilities will be added to the website.

The web support tickets will include requesting accessibility roles as well. Users can update their roles. We’ll check websites and work with users about their accessibility roles.

Example of Accessibilty Role

The Users page will have a new column for Accessibility Role.

OKTA Login and Assessment

Implementation: December 2024/January 2025

We want to connect the assessment in Percipio to the OKTA login used with WordPress websites. We are still working out what options are available with OKTA access to our WordPress websites based on the assessment status.
