The WSU Digital Accessibility website provides assessment, resources, and support to help make your digital content and technology accessible to everyone.
Required Digital Accessibility Assessment
The assessment is required yearly for all digital content creators and publishers at WSU under University Policies and Procedures Manual 10.45: Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) Accessibility (formerly Executive Policy #7 and Business Policies and Procedures Manual 85.55).
Responsibilities for Content Publishers
Content Publishers
All content publishers on the website are responsible for the accessibility of the web pages they edit and the digital content they add to the website, and for ensuring compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as the digital accessibility standard.
Accessibility Role
In addition to a person’s User Roles, users will have an accessibility role. Content publishers are responsible for the accessibility of the web pages they edit, the digital content added to web pages, and compliance with WCAG 2.1, Level AA. Website Owners and Accessibility Proxies are responsible for ensuring the website and its digital content are accessible and in compliance with WCAG 2.1, Level AA.
Accessibility Support at Web Communication
WSU Web Communication offers the Accessibility and Usability Panel with the Web Design System theme. The panel helps you start fixing your accessibility issues. This panel, the Review on WAVE link, and the Digitial Accessibility Core Concepts Check Sheet will help content owners and editors create accessible content on their websites.
