Oct 21 Open Lab Notes: Project & WDS Updates, Glitch List, & Duplicate Pages

What We Are Working on

wsu.edu: The new wsu.edu website is wrapping up the comments period. Feedback has been very good. There are a few minor changes to make.
pullman.wsu.edu: The new pullman.wsu.edu website will launch with wsu.edu. The first iteration of this website will be the Pullman-specific information from the current wsu.edu website in order to have this content available when the new wsu.edu launches.
admissions.wsu.edu: Updated content, navigation, and design for admissions.wsu.edu.

Developer Settings: The Additional Advanced Settings will be relabeled as Developer Settings. A toggle will be in Advanced to display or hide these developer settings.

New Menu Type: A combination menu option of horizontal and vertical menus to help larger websites like campus sites and large college websites like CAHNRS and College of Medicine.

Horizontal option added to the Card Block: Like the current Card block which is vertical, this one will add horizontal display options to display the image on the left or right and image sizes of 25%, 33%, or 50% of the column.

Overlap Block: A block to overlap content on an image, either on the left or right side of the image or on the bottom of the image.

People Directory: This is a two-part update.
- The first part is integrating more functionality for a people directory within a website. This will include syncing with the people in the People Directory, being able to add non-WSU people to a website, and making updates to people’s profiles locally (within a website) that are not reflected back to the People Directory or the displays of people on other websites.
- The second part is making the People Directory a central repository for people and connecting it up to the information in Work Day. Project Lead: Dan White

People Directory (people.wsu.edu): Adding people is case-sensitive. Please use all lowercase letters when adding someone to the site.

Glitch Status: Patience, we’re getting right to it. Submit a web support ticket for general help if you think you have a duplicate profile.
People Block: People are encountering an error when editing a page with a People block on it. UGH! Please use Safari, FireFox, or Chrome in incognito. If you run into problems with editing the page try clearing their cache in Chrome.
Glitch Status: Ugh! We are working on it.

Searching for Duplicate Pages: Pages with -2 in the URL slug means there is or was a page with the same URL slug. Use Export All URLs plugin to find these pages.

Wayback Machine: A handy website of archive versions of websites. Search for versions of websites with the URL and the Wayback Machine will show instances of when the webpage was captured.
